Ugandan President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has expressed gratitude to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) president, Patrice Motsepe, for his dedication to advancing football in East Africa.
During a meeting at the State House in Kampala on Friday night, Motsepe was welcomed by Museveni as part of his final tour of East African countries, including Tanzania, Kenya, and Uganda.

The visit comes ahead of the CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN), which the three nations will co-host in February next year.

President Museveni acknowledged Motsepe’s efforts to enhance African football and pledged his support for ensuring the success of CHAN and the preparations for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.

The gathering also included CAF Vice-President Seidou Mbombo Njoya, who chairs the CHAN organizing committee, Uganda’s Speaker Anita Among, and Moses Magogo, the president of the Ugandan Football Federation.

Motsepe, in turn, expressed his gratitude to President Museveni for his commitment to advancing football in Uganda through the enhancement of the country’s sports facilities.

“I express my deep thanks to Museveni and the people of Uganda for upgrading stadiums in the country,” added Motsepe.
